CARBA's Annual Cake Decorating Competition - March 18, 2012

Hosted at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier!

2012-cake-contest-carbaOn Sunday, March 18th, CARBA will once again hold it's annual cake decorating competition during The Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier. The theme this year is "Hort Couture" - so fashion, flowers, design and texture will be the focus for the cake competition.

This year's competition categories will include:

  • Rolled Fondant Cake (pre-decorated)
  • Four-tiered Wedding Cake (pre-iced)
  • Sculpted Cake


Please submit your application by Friday, February 17th - click to download the application, contest overview and rules.

First place will win $250, as well as travel and accommodations to the National Competition. The first place Grand Champion Trophy Winner is automatically named as a judge for the next competition. Additional prizes to be award as follows:

  • 1st Place - $300
  • 2nd Place - $200
  • 3rd Place - $100
  • 1st Place per Category - $125
  • 2nd Place per Category - $50

The Chicago Flower and Garden Show gets over 50,000 visitors every year. CARBA bakeries will be featured throughout the show with cake displays, demonstrations, and the cake decorating contest on Sunday, March 18th. In addition, participating bakeries will be listed in the Chicago Flower and Garden Show program guide, which is given to every attendee. All of this free advertising is being very generously donated by the creative directors of the Chicago Flower and Garden Show.
